The Christian Workplace Forum (CWF) was founded in 2003 and is administered from the Centre for Contemporary Ministry based at Moggerhanger, Beds. (www.the-park.net)
The CWF has around 85 affiliated associations of Christians in the workplace. (This figure is likely to grow by some 10 a year.) Some of these adhere to the University and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF)’s statement of faith as they were originally started up by Christian graduates moving out into the workplace.
A key objective of member associations in CWF is to evangelise in the workplace. Whatever anyone’s line of work, there are others doing the same job around the country who are also believers. Working Christians need our encouragement to join their own Christian organisation and support each other.
The workplace is our mission field. As Christians in the workplace, we are God’s ‘Plan A’ for reaching our colleagues and there is no ‘Plan B’. Once we grasp this fact, it should inspire us to show God’s love at all times, not hide our ‘light’, and be ready to share the gospel when prompted by the Holy Spirit.
Where do we fit in to the national picture?
The ACPR is a Core association of the CWF. Sally Davis, as Chair, was invited to sit on the Core Group of 8 associations, law, advertising, property, PR, telecoms, agriculture (research). The purpose of the Core Group? To apply our professional and business skills and form the ‘engine room’ of transform-uk (www.transform-uk.org).
TRANSFORM-UK www.transform-uk.org
The objective of transform-uk is ambitious: to bring about the transformation of society over the next 40 years. As a PR professional, Sally Davis, is now Communications Director.
The website makes exciting reading. Could you help spread the word about transform-uk? Why not buy some car stickers and lapel pins soon to be available online, to give to your friends; and make sure your church magazine carries an article. Get your church to stage a hustings in the run up to the general election – download your '10 Moral Questions for your Local Electoral Candidate' from www.transform-uk.org website, and then get CARE's campaign booklet from www.care.org.uk which contains a great guide on how to run a hustings project.
